Feature Interact at your next Conference!
Interact’s award-winning company of actors with disabilities has twenty years’ experience performing, speaking, and presenting workshops and breakout sessions at a wide spectrum of conferences and professional convenings. Focus areas have included arts & disability, diversity & inclusion, interfacing with legal systems around disability issues, special education initiatives, improvisational approaches for medical professionals – and more. We can work with you to select performances and talks from our repertoire, or better yet – we can create performances and breakout sessions especially tailored to your needs. Arts Residencies in Schools or Community Settings
From one day up to three weeks, our professional staff of working/teaching artists joins forces with our entourage of actors and visual artists with disabilities to create exactly the arts learning experience you have in mind. Our Residencies can include creating original theater from poetry, script writing, music composition, acting, singing, and physical comedy/clowning, to creating visual art forms that come alive on stage as sets, props, and costumes. Our K-12 school residencies meet MN Education Standards. We work with classroom teachers to align our work with their curricula, and to develop their own skills in teaching through the lens of creative arts, with a diversity perspective. For more information, contact Jeanne Calvit at 651-209-3575, or [email protected].
Touring – Interact loves a road trip!
Interact is eager to bring our vision of radical inclusive theater to your venue or performance series! In our history, we have entertained audiences throughout Minnesota and the United States, and toured as far as England, Canada, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Australia, and Republic of Congo. We perform all-original work created by our ensemble of actors with disabilities. We are recognized for our unique brand of highly physical theater immersed in original music. And our nothing-sacred approach to exploring the human condition has won two Ivey awards – for most original approach to a topic, and for best original music theater score – as well as MPR’s Arts Hero award for “using our talents to make the world a better place.” For more information, contact Vanessa Healey at 651-209-3575, or [email protected].
Hoping to create your own Arts Center for people with disabilities? We can help!
Interact is internationally recognized as a one-of-a-kind professional arts center for artists with disabilities. We have already helped “midwife” Interact-model centers in Australia, New Orleans, and Thailand, and the U.S. State Department routinely sends cultural ambassadors to Interact as a model for international planning. In Asian countries alone there are over 650,000,000 people with disabilities, and in the United States, people with disabilities comprised almost 20% of the entire population. The time is now to recognize the talents and creative capacity that have long gone unnoticed, and we are eager to help you get started. From creating original theater, to composing songs and lyrics, to tips on developing community partnerships, to exploring funding alternatives… your team can visit Interact, or our team can come to you.
